Unless proper attempts to engage with people are made now, Cardiff’s population will sleep walk into a future that is not of their choosing.

Plea to Cllr Caro Wild to include public in the debate on the future of the city

Cardiff Civic Society have written the following open letter to Cllr Caro Wild, the cabinet member for strategic planning:

Dear Councillor Wild,

As you know, a People’s Assembly was held on the 15th July, hosted by a coalition of concerned organisations.

Many serious issues with the RLDP consultation where raised. It is clear that the consultation process has not engaged with the people of Cardiff in a meaningful way, and for many the consultation process is inaccessible and unfathomable.

For this reason, we strongly believe the consultation period should be extended beyond 23 July, so that Cardiff’s population can be properly briefed on what the RLDP means, and how it will impact on their lives.

Only when the people of Cardiff understand the implications of the RLDP can they make meaningful responses to the consultation, or as CCS advises, to the LDP team.

Unless proper attempts to engage with people are made now, Cardiff’s population will sleep walk into a future that is not of their choosing.

Yours sincerely,

Nerys Lloyd-Pierce

Chair, Cardiff Civic Society
